Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to apply?
The HAPEI Campus Peace Ambassador program is open to students currently enrolled in recognized tertiary institutions in Nigeria, including universities, polytechnics, college of education, and other recognized higher education institutions.
What does a Campus Peace Ambassador do?
Campus Peace Ambassadors promote peace, dialogue, inclusion, responsible leadership, and civic engagement within their campuses. Ambassadors may facilitate peer-learning activities, support peace dialogues, participate in advocacy campaigns, and contribute to campus and community initiatives.
Do I need previous peacebuilding or leadership experience?
No. Previous experience is helpful but not required. The program is designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, and practical experience needed to become effective peacebuilders and leaders.
I am a 100-level student. Can I apply?
Yes! The program is open to students at all levels of study, and all eligible students are welcome to join the program.
How much does it cost to apply?
There is no application fee. Applying to become a HAPEI Campus Peace Ambassador is completely free.
What will I gain from becoming a Campus Peace Ambassador?
Ambassadors gain access to training, mentorship, peer networking, practical leadership and peacebuilding experiences, and opportunities to participate in HAPEI initiatives. Active ambassadors may also receive certificates and recognition in line with program requirements.
What happens after I am selected?
Selected ambassadors go through an onboarding and training process before joining or helping establish a campus chapter. Ambassadors then participate in mentorship, chapter activities, advocacy, peer engagement, and practical peacebuilding initiatives.
What if my university does not have a HAPEI Campus Peace Ambassador Chapter?
You can still apply. If selected, you may help HAPEI establish a chapter at your institution, subject to the program’s chapter formation process and requirements. You could be among the students who help build the next HAPEI campus community.
How often does HAPEI recruit more Campus Peace Ambassadors?
HAPEI recruits Campus Peace Ambassadors through periodic intakes. Recruitment opportunities are announced when a new cohort or campus chapter is opened. Follow HAPEI’s official channels for announcements about upcoming applications.
