EmpowerHer Economic Resilience: 50 Women 50 Smiles

The EmpowerHer Economic Resilience: 50 Women, 50 Smiles is a community-based women’s empowerment and economic resilience initiative designed to equip women with practical skills, knowledge, resources, and opportunities to strengthen their livelihoods and overall well-being.

The initiative recognizes the resilience of women who continue to navigate economic hardship, social inequalities, and other challenges while supporting themselves, their families, and their communities. Through hands-on training, mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and community support, HAPEI creates opportunities for women to build greater confidence, resilience, and capacity for sustainable livelihoods.

Participants receive practical knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship, family planning, women’s rights, gender-based violence prevention and response, and women’s roles in local peacebuilding. As part of the initiative, 10 participating women were selected to receive mini-grants to support and strengthen their livelihoods and economic activities.

Beyond economic empowerment, EmpowerHer creates a supportive space where women can connect, learn from one another, share experiences, and become advocates for sustainable peace and positive change in their communities.

Our Impact

Through the EmpowerHer initiative, HAPEI has:

• Reached and supported 50 women through empowerment, learning, and community engagement activities.
• Awarded mini-grants to 10 women, providing targeted support to strengthen their livelihoods and economic resilience.
• Equipped women with practical knowledge in entrepreneurship, family planning, women’s rights, and financial resilience.
• Increased awareness of gender-based violence prevention and response.
• Strengthened understanding of women’s contributions to local peacebuilding and community development.
• Created a supportive platform for women to connect, exchange experiences, and build networks of solidarity.
• Encouraged women to become advocates for peace, inclusion, and positive social change within their communities.

What began as an opportunity to bring joy and dignity to women during the Christmas season has grown into a platform for empowerment, learning, resilience, and community transformation.

We believe that when women have the knowledge, resources, confidence, and opportunities to thrive, families become stronger, communities become more resilient, and societies become more peaceful.
