Thank you: our Rebuild a Classroom appeal has hit its target

This is a short one to say thank you. Our Rebuild a Classroom appeal, launched in February with a target of ₦18 million, closed this week at ₦19.4 million. More than 800 individual donors contributed, alongside seven small businesses and two anonymous corporate gifts.

The money will pay for the rebuilding of two primary school classroom blocks in Bama LGA, Borno State, complete replacement of desks, chairs and roofing, and a year of teacher salaries at both schools. Work begins in July, subject to the security review our team completes ahead of any Northeast build.

What every donor did

The average donation was ₦24,500. The largest single donation was from a small business owner in Aba who asked to remain anonymous. The smallest was ₦500, from a secondary school student in Lagos who told us in a note that her mother matched what she saved from her lunch money. That note is now pinned above our accountant’s desk.

We will send an update with photographs once the classroom blocks are complete, expected in November. Donors who provided email addresses will receive the update directly.

What comes next

Given the response, we are considering opening a second appeal in September for two additional classroom blocks in a different LGA. We will confirm before the end of August, once our field team has completed feasibility.

Thank you again. This kind of response, from this many people, is the reason we can keep doing the work.
